What will ecodesign regulation mean? And will it significantly increase the number of products that are repaired, reused and remanufactured? The European Remanufacturing Council has issued this position paper in response to the draft legal text for the ecodesign of printers and cartridges. In it, we ask why existing ecodesigned printers and cartridges have been ignored in favour of a perfect model imagined by policymakers.
"Let's not have the perfect drive out the good. This draft text is not going to increase investment in remanufacturing. Instead, it is lawyers who will be delighted by the work it will create", said Director, David Fitzsimons.

The European Remanufacturing Network (ERN) project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement 645984.
The project was so successful that in January 2017 it was decided to create a European Remanufacturing Council funded by business membership subscriptions.
The ERN project (and the creation of a European Remanufacturing Council) was inspired by the earlier work of the Remanufacturing Industries Council in the USA.
